Back in Bangkok

We are back in Bangkok busy visiting the many sites. Today, we took a taxi to Wat Pho which is known for its many mosaic chedis, more than a thousand Buddha statues and images, and its enormous reclining Buddha that boasts feet decorated with intricate scenes crafted from mother of pearl. The Wat is also a working Buddhist monastery and school that teaches Thai massage. Wat Intharawihan with its giant standing Buddha statue was our next destination. The golden Buddha impresses with its height of 32 meters. It took over 60 years to complete and is decorated with glass mosaics and 24 carat gold leaves.

  1. Hi Ladies,
Sorry I am late in catching up with your blog. Your pictures a re fabulous. I would love see Angkor Wat one day. Some of the places you have been I have used in teaching about architecture. I wish I had joined your blog sooner but I lost the website for a little while. Anyway, I finally made it. I began my seminar on East Asia yesterday. We will only be covering China, Japan and Korea. I look forward to including more on Asia in my teaching. There is also a possibility of travel related to this seminar. I don't know when your 5 weeks ends but I will check back in and catch up on all of your posts. I am sure you are having a wonderful time.
    Best,
    Nancy
